Teachers Strike Rally & International Den-Making Day 1.10.13

Outside Leeds Library / City Art Gallery

Teachers Strike Rally and March through Leeds
and International Den-making Day join in to chant, build a protest den and tell Michael Gove his education policies are a shocking, regressive attempt to turn schools into environments of joyless  measurement,
Learning should be places of trust, open-ended learning where teachers and learners are cared for, supported, and new possibilities embraced and imagined

The Kings Arms Salford festival 30.9.13

Protest

In anticipation of International Den-Making Day on 1.10.13 we were invited to inhabit the Kings Arms Beer Garden at Salford Festival

Protest invited people to say something to us, to each other in the pub, to protest, say something they felt passionate about and we couldnt build a den because the sun was out and we didnt want shade and the wind was up so areas of cover got dangerous. Strands of comments did the job see Twitter feed

@denprojectLeeds for what people felt that day

Chapel Allerton Arts Festival August 31st 2013

Magic and Illusion

Members of the Festival team on Arts Activities together did all this!
We learnt to build free-standing bamboo structures for a 16 foot Wizard on the street
from Tony at Faceless, Wakefield

The Methodist Hall family activity space was an imaginarium of film and projections and light sourced image-making

Kids made shadow puppets, plasticine characters, crawled through a mini cinema showing animations from the in-week workshop with kids, ohp play, made capes and appeared in the green screen West Yorkshire Playhouse costumes where people could be in The Moomins, The Wizard of Oz, Sci Fi Tunnels etc and dressed the wizards cloak and head.
